Fantasy, magic, action…let`s stay for a while in the world of fantasy. Today I propose you a game, that I bet it`s an ever-green for you, “Final Fantasy”, arrived to the sixteen sequel yet (absolutely a record, from my point of view). There were rumors, that the partnership with Microsoft, more precisely with Xbox 360, have been cancelled and that the producers are looking for another distribution company. In fact, a representative of Square Enix made it clear: the game will be launched on Xbox as usual, but when the trouble issues of the platform will be sorted out. If you are a fan of the game, you have to wait at least until September 30, if everything goes right.
If you don`t like Xbox interface, wait until March, when a version of PlayStation 3 is meant to appear. The classical version of PC will cost about 50$ and I guess it`s not a very comfortable price for you, instead of the 13$, that you pay as fee for every 30 days you play the game online.
“Final Fantasy” was born in 1987 and, if you allow me to be a little bit subjective, it doesn`t seem to finish ever, by delivering a “final” sequel. If you were to make a statistic, each year mark a new sequel and now we are preparing to welcome version number fourteen.
The history of this ever-green starts as an attempt to avoid bankruptcy. At the moment of its creation, Hironobu Sakaguchi was facing this danger and handed the media franchise to Square Enix.
At the beginning, the game was a mixture of anime and motion pictures, but as time passed by, the focus was directed towards a more occidental view. Even today, you can recognize some anime features, especially on the way of creating faces.
Criticized, but sold like hot cakes- this is the recipe of success for “Final Fantasy”. With more than 90 millions of units sold, Square Enix`s franchise was awarded with a star on the Walk of Game (2006) and established some records of selling in the version of Guinness World for games (2008). “Final Fantasy” has managed to bring a fresh air in European and American game industry and today nobody seems to doubt about its innovative visuals or music. It`s like playing an old stereotype of Good and Evil battle, but on a different background and with an inciting musical theme.
In “Final Fantasy” you have to fight, either it`s about the first sequel or the latest one. It`s about an eternal battle between the sins of mankind and the purity of superior creatures. For the “Final Fantasy XIV”, I could observe a more detailed armory: you will have choose to be from Disciple of War, Disciple of Magic, Disciple of the Land or Disciple of Hand, each one with its inner prerogatives.
The prologue posted on the official site is impossible to be read, due to its speed, but the essential is that you will be stepping into a new world, Eorzea, both mild and harsh, that you have to conquer. Ready for the adventure?!11
